Lenny Kaye


Lenny Kaye is a founding member of Patti Smith and Her Band, and a musician, producer, and writer who has worked with such diverse artists as Suzanne Vega, Soul Asylum, Allen Ginsberg, Waylon Jennings, and Pussy Riot. His 1972 compilation of garage-rock, N uggets, was chosen by Rolling Stone magazine as one of the most important rock albums of all time. Y ou Call It Madness: The Sensuous Song of the Croon , his book on the romantic singers of the early 1930s, was published in 2004 by Random House, and he is currently working on L ightning Striking, a journey through the legendary scenes of rock and roll for Ecco/HarperCollins. In March 2017, Sony/Legacy released his production of Jessi Colter’s improvisations on the classic sacred poems that are The Psalms.
